Legal Ink, as a firm whose management is headed by lawyers from a disadvantaged community, has identified interventions in areas such as education as one of the means it can achieve maximum impact in society.
The provision of fee-free Vacation classes, for hundreds of students in Ashanti Region under one roof and in the hands of the very best teachers in Ashanti Region was seen as the smartest and surest way to create access to quality tuition available in first class secondary schools by students from disadvantaged communities. Most of these are not so fortunate to secure admission to the very top schools. Last year over 700 students from second-cycle schools benefited from this fee-free programme fully funded by Legal Ink. This year, it is anticipated that between 800 and 1000 students drawn from several Senior High Schools from different parts of the country will participate in the fee-free extra classes.

By funding an important educational programme for students from less endowed communities, Legal Ink is performing its social responsibilities towards a needy Society and will by this also help raise awareness about the importance of corporate philanthropy.

To ensure the long term survival of an important social intervention like this and the extension of its geographic cover, Legal Ink has set up a foundation under the name Legal Ink Foundation for Education (“LIFE”) with its own seed fund and an independent board of trustees and patrons. Their mandate is to manage and grow the seed fund and to look for and tap into other sources of funds. By taking this initiative, Legal Ink hopes to instill in Ghana’s future leaders the values of social responsibility, the significance of community welfare and the spirit of self-empowerment.
